Long distance relationships can be difficult to hold on to but they are not impossible. It is interesting because many people who have never engaged in a long distance relationship will tell you that it is not worth your time but take it from someone who knows, that a long distance relationship that works out is a truly special connection because not everyone can carry them out.

Long distance relationships take a lot of time, communication, patience and understanding. Those who are in long distance relationships have a stronger connection than any other relationship because they do not allow the distance to separate them. Nevertheless, the distance can put a damper on romance but it does not have to. Here are some sure fire ways to keep the romance going:

Anniversaries: Celebrating monthly anniversaries are a large milestone in a long distance relationship. Keep the date and “take your partner out”. Come up with a favorite meal and even a movie to watch. You can watch the movie while on Skype or the telephone while eating some take out. Knowing that you are eating the same food and watching the same movie while communicating with each other will keep the connection strong.

Special Talents: You have to keep the romance alive by keeping the relationship exciting. If you have a talent, you should share it with your partner. Sometimes talking can become boring so your special talents can keep the relationship entertaining. You can dance, sing, play an instrument, teach a language or paint a picture.

Surprises: Even though it may not be possible for a physical surprise, you can still come up with surprises to send in the mail. Everyone loves getting care packages and knowing that these gifts were once in your hands will make your loved one feel great. You can even have these surprises coincide with your monthly anniversary. You can create gifts like a photo album or a scrap book, you can buy them something to wear so they can feel you everyday like earrings or a tie or you can buy something naughty which will keep you two looking forward to your reunion.

Playtime: For the adventurous adults, you can exchange naughty gifts and then show them off the next time you guys turn on the cameras. This sort of playful exchange will certainly make the connection between you two stronger. After a certain period of time, you start to forget about the sexual part of your relationship. Sex lingerie and boxers can create a sexual atmosphere that helps to replace a small part of your once very physical relationship.

Just because you are not currently together, it does not mean that your relationship has to cease to be romantic. There are always ways to create romance in the relationship whether it be sending flowers to her office or sending him a song you recorded dedicated to him. You should see each other every two to three months and speak everyday.

Does the “Let’s take a break” means it is over?

Being his lover is such a great feeling. Last morning when he woke up he kissed you and prepared the breakfast, he kissed you when he went to work, he called you and said he loves you and finally, he invited you to take a romantic dinner.

However, suddenly he says your relationship needs a break. The sky falls upon you, you think it is unbelievable and you feel like bursting in tears. But this does not mean your relationship has come to an end. So what could be the reasons for this break ? Will he change his mind and come back to you ? The answers to these questions might be find among the ones below.

He might be feeling suffocated. Maybe he just wants a period without everyday’s relationship routines. Going out with his friends, having a couple of beers, watching what sports program he likes. Usually men stuff. As much as you would try to keep him closer to you, this could make him desire more and more some intimacy, so allowing him to fulfill his wishes might simply do the trick.
Maybe he met someone else. Yes, this might happen from time to time. If he wants someone else and does not know what to do next, asking for a break is a natural move. He leaves an open gate for his return in case thing don’t work with his new one. If things do not work, he will come back to you, if the new romance works the break will take a definitive turn.
When your attitude has changed lately, this break could be a sign he just wants to change something about it. Whether you are not as warm as before, maybe you have changed the way you were making love with him, something could have changed. Try to see where you could work to change your attitude and maybe things will turn back as they were before.

Whatever the reasons would be, there are some things that must be arranged before the break comes into play. Some rules like how long the break will last, if speaking on the phone is allowed or not and others. When the break is over, meet somewhere and see what to do next. It is possible that after some weeks of freedom he will realize how hard it is without you and things to come back as they were before.

However, during this break it is best not to follow him, not to make him jealous dating with someone else, no mass messages and phones. Get out with your friends, enjoy some precious time in their company and just wait to see how things evolve. Remember this : a break does not necessarily means all is over and, as the old saying states : patience is a virtue.
